I'm currently a student at Pima Community College taking art classes to complete my art teaching endorsement to be a highly qualified art teacher for grades K-12. My first class of the semester was Art 100 Basic Design. The class was only 6 weeks long, but lasted until 10 p.m. one night per week, for a morning bird like myself it was tough staying awake to complete projects at that hour.
Having studies the elements of art and principles of design in detail while learning to teach them the past semester I was able to put my skills to the test as an artist to see what I could create while focusing on the objectives.
My last class (YIPPIE!!) is an independent study in drawing (although, I'm sneaking in a few paintings). In this class I'm confirming that I do have the talent to draw, however mostly I prefer to sketch the contour lines then turn the drawings into another form of media such as paintings. Its been an interesting experience so far.
